You don't need a connection to fill out a naturalForms document. Your crew can complete a form — photos, signatures, notes and all — with no signal at all, and everything is saved on the device. When you're back online, you submit the document the way you always do, and it goes to the office. Nothing is lost, and no one has to re-enter data later.
Offline mode is built into every plan — Essentials, Advanced, and Grow.
What you can do offline
With no connection, on a phone or tablet, your crew can still:
- Open and fill out a form
- Add photos
- Capture signatures
- Enter notes, measurements, and any other field data
- Save the document and keep moving to the next job
Everything is stored safely on the device until you're back in range.
Sending your work once you're back online
When the device has a signal again — Wi-Fi or cellular — open the document and submit it the way you normally would (the same submit you use on any form). It uploads just as if you'd been online the whole time.
Good to know: documents you complete offline are not sent automatically in the background. They stay saved on the device and wait for you to submit them once you're back online. Make submitting your finished forms part of the routine when you get back to signal.
How to confirm it's working (30-second check)
You can prove it to yourself in under a minute:
- Open the naturalForms app and switch the device to airplane mode.
- Start a form and fill it out like normal — add a photo and a signature. It all saves, no signal needed.
- Turn connectivity back on and submit the form — it uploads normally.
If the document goes through once you're back online, offline mode is working for your team.
Before you head into a dead zone
A couple of habits that make offline work foolproof:
- Sign in and open the app while you still have a signal at least once for the day, so your account and forms are loaded on the device.
- Head out to the job and fill out forms as normal — the lack of signal won't stop you.
- When you're back in range, submit your completed forms so they reach the office.
Troubleshooting
"My form didn't reach the office."
- Confirm you submitted the document once you were back online — offline documents don't send on their own; they wait for you to submit.
- Confirm the device is actually back online (open any website or app to check), then submit.
- If a document still won't submit after the device has been online for a few minutes, contact support (below) — don't delete it.
"Can I start a brand-new form with no signal?"
- Yes, as long as that form was already loaded on the device from an earlier online session. Signing in and opening the app while you have a connection (see above) makes sure the forms you need are ready.
